Streamdin, geolocation and Twitter

Work Sample

In 2010, we dedicated some of our free-time to developing what we believed could be the ultimate Twitter client. We witnessed an explosive interest in geolocation based services and embraced the opportunity developing Streamdin.

At its core, Streamdin was a full Twitter client alternative. Entirely web based, Streamdin provided much of the same basic functionality as similarly positioned services like tweeting, browsing, following or unfollowing, replying and direct messaging. The differentiating factor was significant screen real-estate for a Google Map which displayed geo-tagged tweets in real-time.

Streamdin continues to serve as an early example of our ability to mash together various social services. At its most active developed state, Streamdin served real-time geolocation tagged updates from Twitter, Foursquare, Gowalla and Flickr.

Due to limitations imposed by Twitter upon 3rd party clients, we refocused efforts from the web version to create Streamdin for iOS and Android. Try either apps today and refine your view of Twitter to specific locations. Browse tweets in real-time as they appear immediately atop a Google map. Filter results to only show tweets with images and / or by specific keywords.

We are currently exploring options for updating the web version to continue providing real-time search and geotagged twitter functionality. Ideal use cases may be a white-labeled version for sporting events, concerts or special conferences. Feel free to get in touch for more details.
